Scott has gained notoriety as a clinical specialist in Alzheimer’s disease through his experience as a community lecturer and Support Group Leader. He was elected to the board of the Broward Alzheimer’s Association where he served the maximum term of six years and served as a facilitator to several Alzheimer’s support groups. He was also a board member of Alzheimer Family Center in Margate where he was responsible for bringing Project Lifesaver to Broward County. He has owned and operated his own school for Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides. He served as the President of the Florida Assisted Living Association in Broward and offers expert opinion to the state Legislative Committees for both Assisted Living and Hospice care. As a Certified Dementia Care Manager, he has taught the preparation for the Certified Dementia care Practitioner credential and manages the medical cases of all patients at both facilities, and continues to provide private case management to the community.
In addition, Scott lectures to the community and fellow caregivers on specialized, innovative methods with difficult behaviors including agitation, anxiety, wandering, elopement, resistance to care and incontinence. With more than 35 years in healthcare and eldercare, Scott’s commitment to the evolutionary care of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients is well established and highly respected among his peers and the industry.
